Job Description

The Compliance Officer will hold a key role responsible for overseeing all compliance matters within the organization and other future sister companies. This role involves managing regulatory compliance, particularly in the context of international trade, export, import, ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations), BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and

Explosives), firearm regulations, and various license and permits. The Compliance Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining the Company’s adherence to legal and regulatory standards, with a strong focus on ITAR compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Regulatory Compliance Oversight (ITAR Emphasis): Stay current with evolving international trade, export, import, and ITAR regulations, and ensure the organization’s strict adherence. Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive compliance programs and policies with a specific focus on ITAR compliance.

2. Licensing and Permitting: Oversee and manage application, renewal, and maintenance of various licenses and permits required for defense industry activities, such as ITAR and FFL/FEL. Maintain and manage an up to date repository of licenses and permits.

3. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate potential compliance risks that could affect the

organization, with a particular emphasis on ITAR-related risks. Conduct internal investigations, audits, and due diligence to address compliance breaches, violations, and irregularities.

4. Policy Development and Review: Collaborate with various departments to establish, update, and review Company policies to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including ITAR.

5. Training and Education: Develop and implement comprehensive compliance training programs to ensure Company-wide understanding of ITAR and other relevant regulations and best practices. Keep the organization informed of changes in regulatory landscapes, especially ITAR updates.

6. Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all compliance activities, with a particular emphasis on ITAR documentation and BATFE logs. Prepare and present reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders as necessary.

7. Company Representation: Continuously striving for excellence and immaculate presentation in all aspects of the job.

8. Miscellaneous: Other duties as assigned by the Director of Administration.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

o Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a compliance related field, or 5 years or more years of compliance experience in the firearm/ammunition/defense industry.

o Hands-on experience designing cross functional risk management processes, tools, and audit

mechanisms is preferred.

o Strong understanding of material properties, safety protocols, and environmental factors related to importing and exporting of dangerous goods is a major plus.

Skills:

o Knowledge of laws and regulations related to shipments of firearms and dangerous goods.

o Familiarity with firearms, ammunition, and manufacturing processes for reactive materials and the challenges involved in importing and exporting dangerous goods safely.

o Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.

o Ability to work in safety-sensitive environments and adhere to industry standards.

o Familiarity with military standards or defense sector regulations is highly desirable.

Certifications (Preferred):

o Valid DOT certificate related to hazardous materials handling, explosives safety, or ammunition

manufacturing (or ability to obtain certification within first month of employment).

o OSHA 30 card (or ability to obtain training and certification within first 90 days of employment).
