Location: Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Job Type: Seasonal, Full-Time (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Compensation: Based on experience
Start Date: Mid-May 2025 (Training Begins)

School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education, inspiring students of all ages to rock on stage and in life. Our summer camps provide a fun and immersive experience for young musicians, helping them develop their skills, confidence, and passion for music in a band setting.

Position Overview

The Summer Camp Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of School of Rock’s summer music camps. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep passion for music education. The Camp Director ensures that each camp runs smoothly, provides an outstanding experience for all campers, and fosters a fun, safe, and inspiring environment.

Schedule & Hiring Timeline
  • Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Camps run from June 9 – August 15, 2025 (flexibility to miss 1-2 weeks if needed).
  • We are looking to hire in mid-May to allow time for training before camps begin in June.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage summer camp operations for all sessions.
  • Supervise, support, and coordinate with camp instructors , ensuring they are equipped to deliver engaging and effective rehearsals.
  • Oversee student progress throughout the week, providing guidance on song selection, casting, and individual instruction when needed.
  • Manage daily camp activities and schedules, ensuring a balance between structured rehearsals, individual coaching, and fun group activities.
  • Create an inclusive, positive, and encouraging environment where students of all skill levels feel safe, engaged, and inspired.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and students , providing updates on student progress, camp activities, and performance details.
  • Coordinate end-of-week performances , ensuring campers are prepared for their final show.
  • Address and resolve any behavioral or musical challenges , working closely with instructors and school management.
  • Promote future enrollment opportunities , encouraging students to continue their musical journey through School of Rock programs.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in music education, camp leadership, or youth program management.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and curriculum design.
  • Experience leading group rehearsals and coaching musicians of varying skill levels.
  • Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with students, parents, and staff in a high-energy environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
  • A background as a performing musician (actively gigging, recording, or playing in a band) is preferred.
  • College-level music training/education is a plus.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and able to adapt to changing dynamics.
  • Available to work full camp weeks (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM) from June 9 – August 15, 2025. (Can be flexible for 1-2 missed weeks.)
  • Must be available to begin training in mid-May 2025.
